Projects
These are just some of the projects that Loom Communications has been proud to contribute to.
Ruby on Rails
TuneCore
TuneCore is a popular Ruby on Rails website that lets artists sell their music on popular music sites like iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, and Napster, all without giving up control of their work. Artists keep their rights, pay a small fee for processing and storage, and keep their profit.
Artspots
Artspots is a gallery site along the lines of devaintART and ArtWanted, where artists can display their work and solicit feedback. It requires an appliation process to join, and focuses on high quality work. It also has a commission system for artists to track their jobs, as well as a storefront for artists and fans to sell and buy high quality giclée prints.
LOCKSS AU Manager
An internal tool used by the LOCKSS project at Stanford University to track content that has been made available to the LOCKSS digital preservation network. The tool also generates title databases used by LOCKSS caches around the world. These title databases allow local cache administrators to easily add and remove content that they wish to be preserved by their LOCKSS boxes.
Software
JarBundler Ant Task
The JarBundler Ant Task is a popular Apache Ant task, developed by Loom Communications, that allows Mac OS X Java developers to generate clickable bundles for their apps.
JarBundler is now an open source project hosted at SourceForge.
Automata
Everyone has to program at least one Game of Life. It's an unwritten rule. This is mine.
I'm still quite interested in cellular automata. I wrote Automata to play with various rulesets, gliders, and patterns. It has not been updated in quite some time, but is still pretty usable.
